The Roanoke W5CUI repeater has been restored. Thank you for your patience.
The Roanoke W5CUI repeater has been restored. Thank you for your patience.
The evening of January 3rd to early morning of January 4th one of our servers will be physically moved. You may experience a disruption of network service during this time period (Approx. 11pm – 5am) but repeaters should remain available for local usage.
The Washington DC repeater (W3AGB) is off the network – unknown restoration time (expected to be prolonged).
The Roanoke repeater (W5CUI) is off network (and off air) due to damage to the antenna system. Repairs are being arranged, please watch the website for updates.
Update: Functionality appears to be restored. We will post further updates if warranted.
One of our hosting providers is experiencing an unplanned downtime. They are in the process of troubleshooting the issue with on-site staff. We will post a notification when more information becomes available.
Operators supporting the Special Olympics in the Richmond area will be using Timeslot 1 on the Richmond and Petersburg repeaters during the days of June 7– 10th. All traffic on Richmond Local (TG 27500, TS1) will be managed by Special Olympics Net Control during this time.
Accordingly, all Talkgroups on Timeslot 1 will be unavailable for general amateur use during the duration of the Special Olympics nets. Please QRX but feel free to use VA Statewide (3151) and PRN (2) on Timeslot 2 as per usual.
Again, this only affects the Richmond and Petersburg machines. All other machines on the DMRVA network will be unaffected.
Thank you for your understanding during this important event.
UPDATE: All links appear to be restored as of 5/29/2018.
At present all links between DMRVA talkgroups and BM talkgroups are out of service. Traffic on the Statewide talkgroup will be limited to users on the DMRVA repeaters. This also impacts several local area talkgroups (Roanoke, Richmond) that have extended linking. Tac 310, DCI Bridge and others remain in service. As soon as we hear from BM and have an idea of what change they have made, we will post an update.
Connectivity to the Linden DMR Repeater has been restored.
Have a great Memorial Day.
The Linden DMR Repeater is operating stand-alone due to an equipment failure. We hope to restore connectivity as soon as possible.
The link between the Richmond Local (and Petersburg local) to the two brandmeister repeaters in the area is currently out of service. It will be several days before the link is restored due to technical issues. Richmond, Petersburg and Portable Local all remain linked at this time.
Our friend Nathan, K4NWJ from the PRN system recently sent along the following reminder that we can all use. Consider the impact of your transmission on others, and listen before you transmit.
When you're accessing PRN Chat 1, Chat 2, Tac 1 Tac 310 or whatever dynamic tg for the first time, and you need to PTT to start up the group, please just a momentary key. It can often take up to 45 seconds for you to 'hear' what could be currently going on in a talkgroup. When you key up a PTT TG (whether repeater or hotspot) and give your call, name, and qth, you're very often talking over the top of people involved in a conversation. I agree, it's tough, you had it beat in to you not to 'kerchunk' a repeater, but with DMR just blindly transmitting for a bit on your first activation of the TG is usually very disruptive.
