The Petersburg repeater will be off the air for a few days while some work is done at the site. Stay tuned for further when it returns.
There are other ways to access the VA Statewide talkgroup (3151) if you are outside of the coverage area of DMRVA repeaters. There are hotspot options via the Brandmeister network as well as K4USD repeaters. Most K4USD repeaters will only have it set to PTT (not always on) so keep in mind that the repeater may time out if you aren’t actively in a QSO.
The following K4USD repeaters carry VA Statewide full time –
W4YP (Haymarket, VA) on TS1
WB6EFW (Ashburn, VA) on TS2
KB3LYL (Damascus, MD) on TS1
N0AGI (Burnsville, MN) on TS2
Please see the K4USD website for information on their repeater network. Always remember to QSY to a local or TAC channel as appropriate to not tie up multiple repeaters.
There will be a maintenance window on DMRVA servers between 2 and 3am on Monday, Nov. 21st.
There may be issues with connectivity during this period.
We believe we have fixed the issues with Echotest/Parrot (9998)
Please let us know if you have any issues.
Before you get excited and run out and buy the soon to be release dual band DMR radio, please be aware that it is likely NOT compatible with DMRVA or other similar networks. Preliminary information says that despite the possibilities for upgrades performance may be poor or non-existent.
We have a new interactive coverage map. It should allow you to get a better idea of coverage in your area. It uses the standard Google Maps API so you should be able to zoom and pan.
It is in beta so please let us know how it works. Coverage is generated using Radio Mobile.
We have added a new repeater in the Charlottesville area on 444.9125. Standard TG lineup applies. The Local TG (27500) is temporarily bridged with Harrisonburg Local.
Please send along coverage reports.
A report from Joe Avery – WB4EOT in Roanoke about the repeater system:
W5CUI DMR Repeater on Poor Mountain received approval and coordination to remain on 444.775/449.775 Mhz output/input from SERA. Coordination has been confirmed with email from Mike Fariss, SERA coordinator for Virginia. Coverage from W5CUI is exceptional and performing beyond expectations. Portable users easily work repeater in greater Roanoke Valley. Users in Wytheville, Blacksburg, Hillsville, Floyd, Franklin County, Martinsville, Craig County, Bedford, Fincastle, Roanoke County, Roanoke City, Salem, Botetourt County and Smith Mountain Lake report coverage. We have a report of one user returning from Charlotte Hamfest September 3rd who accessed repeater 22 miles south of NC/VA state line on Route 220. Coverage areas are continually being reported.
Maintenance will take place on DMRVA servers the morning of September 8, from 12.30-4.00 am EDT.
There may be periods of intermittent network connectivity during this time.
